Introduction – Trevor
Lonely Drivers Driving club? That doesn’t make much sense – Oh, we know. That’s why our site is titled this way. Ironically, it’s hard to be alone in a community – or we can be alone, together, with a mutual understanding of what it can be like for a lonely driver.
Have you ever struggled to connect with others at a deeper level than just surface conversation? What breaks down those barriers? Common interests. Interested in attending your first car event or track day but need help determining where to begin? Is my car unique enough to be at an event? Where do you even start in attempting to be a part of the car community?
These questions alone are enough to bring anxiety and fear, which can cause people to second guess attending these events to connect with others. A brave few may take a risk and push through some of this to begin the journey of meeting new people and sharing their passion, while others decide it may be too much.
Purpose & Mission
The Lonely Drives Driving Club aims to break down those barriers. And that’s how the idea of an online community of like-minded car enthusiasts was created to make the jump to in-person events much more manageable. It’s how I managed to take the leap 🙂 Hi, I’m Trevor from Perth, Western Australia.
Moving interstate by myself was a daunting experience. I went from Perth, where I had the safety net of family and long-term friends, to Melbourne, Victoria, where I had none. It was no easy feat, and it brought many dark times and thoughts of suicide. While hard, it was one of the best things I’ve done to grow myself. It also highlighted the importance of community and how shared hobbies can be a great starting point for connecting with others and building lasting friendships.
Introduction – Justin
Hey, I’m Justin, born and raised in WA. I have been a mechanic since I was 17 and have recently become a dad. I’m into all types of cars (classics, euros and JDM). Anything to do with burning rubber and going fast.
I drive an FQ340 MR, LS1 e46 drift car and 66′ Mustang.
What has made you want to give podcasting and digital content creation a go?
I’ve decided to give podcasting a go to try something new and step out of my comfort zone. I enjoy making car-related content like IG reels and what not, eventually the idea was to start my own YouTube channel. The goal was to document the builds and cars I was working on and, if it grew from there, to continue to expand it.
I’ve got a goal to open my own workshop and enjoy the freedom of being my own boss.
How I mentally reset:
Cruises, drifting, and burnouts are great outlets to clear the head. They’ve helped me with my anxiety and depression since my father passed away. He was a massive influence in getting me into automotive culture.
